Today’s the 10th anniversary of the tragic plane crash that killed Sen. Paul Wellstone, his wife, and their crew. As Katrina vanden Heuvel writes in the Washington Post, Sen. Wellstone was “a relentless champion, a true public servant and one of the very few social movement senators we’ve ever had.”
In the Senate, he was a lead cosponsor of “Clean Elections” legislation to raise the voices of everyday people in our political process. Above is a TV ad he ran in his first race, noting “unlike my opponent I don’t have $6 million, so I’m going to have to talk fast.”
