Because nothing says romance like a political fundraiser:
Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R-Fla.) is using her upcoming 30th wedding anniversary to raise some dough for her IRL PAC leadership PAC. “IRL PAC invites you to Ileana & Dexter’s 30 Year Wedding Anniversary Pearl Fundraiser,” announces an invite obtained by PI. Celebrating the Florida Republican’s wedding anniversary will cost a cool $5,000 for a table of 10 or $1,000 per couple. The fundraiser celebration will be held July 12th in Miami.

WASHINGTON – A Republican congressman from Maryland is going after a campaign finance loophole that has allowed lawmakers to use campaign funds on non-campaign activity – like a family trip to Scotland. Rep. Andy Harris (R-Md.) introduced a bill last month seeking to prevent lawmakers from using funds from their leadership PACs to pay for personal expenses.

National Journal reports: “A group of cigar store owners who want to pass legislation to prevent federal regulations on premium stogies recently started a hybrid PAC and have raised a good chunk of cash, proving that even smaller players are getting hip to this cycle’s newest fundraising tool.”
